Glacier Park

Before heading to the park itself we joined some of Mark's friends for a hike into Stanton Lake.

Stanton Lake towards Glacier Park

On the way there and back we stopped to pick huckleberries.

Then we drove on to the park and joined up with more of the family to take the Going to the Sun Road up into the mountains. A serious engineering feat opened in the 1930s. As we drove up a bolt of lightning hit the ground close by with a puff of smoke and the heavens opened. Made for an interesting drive. However by. the time we reached the top the rain had eased and the mist began to lift.

Met this pair of gophers just outside the visitor centre at Logan Pass 6646ft (3,500ft above the lake).

Down at Lake MacDonald we sat outside the lodge and had our picnic with a view of the mountains.

Inside the lodge.

Back at the cabin the night lights had come on.
