Goodbye to Kallispell and hello Portland

After a wonderful week in Montana with Mark and his lovely family it was time to get back on the train.

First though a chance to go paddle boarding and a last hike in the woods during which I saw a bald eagle. Earlier watched and listened to a pair of loons (Great Northern Divers) fly over the cabin.

After our meal I had to stop for some huckleberry ice cream with Jareth, Mark, Ketcher and Renley.

The Amtrak waiting room at Whitefish probably hasn't changed for quite some time.

Superb views of the Columbia River as we approached Portland, Oregon the next day:

A welcome on the streets there.

And some more colourful wooden houses

I took a walk in the beautiful Washington Park, right in the city.

No, not ice cream but grape lemonade and mixed berry tart frozen yogurt

Found the excellent independent Cinema 21 around the corner from the hostel.

The Portland Northwestern Hostel - voted the best in America!

  1. Did you go to the cinema? I went to see David Lynch's Lost Highway (11th July, 2022)!

    1. Yes great place isn't it? That's quite a film. Think I have seen it. I went to Sorry, Baby and Jeff Buckley It's Never Over. Both great.
